SCORED 290 ON gMAT pREP SOFTWARE ALTHOUGH AM studying for last 4 weeks ..did practice tests and did average in them...
Don't know what went wrong...my test is next week ..seriously thinking to postpone it ..have a crazy work schedule too..don't know what to do...Should I appear for my test next week or start preparing more harder keeping in ming my crazy work schedule where all time i have Work deadlines....Please advise

I'm sorry to hear about your GMAT Prep experience. I must say, it doesn't sound as if you are ready for the test. I would recommend postponing it and amping up the studying. Here is a one-month study schedule:

That's a busy schedule, so I don't know how well it would fit with your work schedule. A somewhat more manageable schedule is the three-month schedule:

I don't know if you can afford to postpone that long. Following one of these two schedules faithfully will bring some significant improvements to your performance.

It sounds like postponing is a good idea. Perhaps your first step should be relearning the academic topics that the GMAT covers, so you might want to get a copy of the OG and start tackling the concepts there. Take the time to learn the topics and become comfortable with the format of the GMAT. Try out a few GMAT prep programs (many, like Economist GMAT Tutor, offer a free trial), and choose the best plan for your needs. Good luck and let me know if you have any questions!

Thanks guys for the help.... I only attempted verbal and quant questions.on the quant out of 32, 12 got right & on the verbal 18 were right out of 35 and still got the score 290 starnge..I did so really stupid mistakes which I have corrected and since yesterday giving full focus on quant doing a lot of drills..I will try to download some more questions too...Any further advice ?

Soon you'll learn not to make the same mistakes. It's helpful to make a good study schedule and stick to it! Here is some advice about how much you should study:

While each student’s needs are different, the Economist GMAT Tutor course generally takes between 80-120 hours to complete, which is our recommendation for the number of hours a student should study. This allows you enough time to answer most of our 5,000 practice questions, as well as take a few sim tests and tutor sessions.

In terms of how many hours per day to study, you should look at how much time you have available versus the hours recommended above. We suggest that you study for at least 1.5 hours per weekday and 4+ hours on weekend days (assuming you have a traditional work-week schedule). You should also pay attention to your personal needs. For example, if you find that 4 hours of study is too much and you are not absorbing information, then reduce the number of hours you study at one time. It would be counterproductive to continue studying if you’re too exhausted.

You should also take short breaks after each hour of studying to clear your head and renew your energy. Ideally 10-17 study hours per week is good goal, but this can easily go up or down based on your availability and how soon your test is coming. Part of the your study time should also involve reviewing summaries and notes you take along the way. In total, it’s ideal to allow 8 to 12 weeks to study properly for the GMAT.
