can anyone just letme know how many approximate weightage of questions from each topic ??? i guess it would help to plan the study accordingly... thanks in advance

Check out the Skills Trackers at the end of in the Online Packet for GMAT clarity (www.gmatclarity.com). They have the expected number of problems from each Topic within Quant. And check out the book too - its an amazing resource for self-studiers!

You can see various categories. Generally, if you are in the 600 range, you will see more algebra/number sequences/number properties/exponent type questions.
The more of those you get correct, the more you'll start seeing mixtures, rates, combinatorics, and complex word problems.
So the weightings generally will be largely algebra/number sequences/number properties/exponent -- with a sprinkling of more advanced concepts as you advance in the 700 range.
