Hi All:
After numerous months of study time, I was hoping to be able to join the victorious post club. However, it seems that something has gone seriously wrong!! I initially attempted to take the GMAT a few years back, and without studying and received a much justified 500 for my laziness.
This past January I joined the
Manhattan GMAT 9-week crash course as a means to stay committed to my goal. After completing the course, I began working on my timing and eventually got into the mid-600 range which, to me, was real progress. However, I somehow took myself for a roller coaster ride all the way down to test day. My break outs are below (Quant/Verbal):
•
MGMAT - 520 (30/32) on 2/16/2014
•
MGMAT - 650 (40/38) on 3/15/2014
•
MGMAT - 620 (39/35) on 3/22/2014
•
MGMAT - 590 (36/34) 4-5/2014
• OG Prac Exam – 550 (no breakout available currently) 4/6/2014
• OG Prac – 520 (no breakout available currently) 4/12/2014
• GMAT - 480 (no breakout available currently ) 4/21/2014
Key facts: I had simulated test like conditions for all except my top two scores. On these days I was in a rush so I skipped the IR & Essay on the 650 score and skipped the Essay on the 620 score. While I’m sure this helped, I also remember having a much more relaxed “it is what it is” type of attitude throughout these tests. I wonder if I got a bit anxious after my high scores trying to further elevate them. On test day, I (at least I think) didn’t feel incredibly nervous and feel I managed my snacks and bathroom break timing well.
Needless to say this is embarrassing, but any sort of tips would be MUCH APPRECIATED! I’ve taken some time off of studying but would really like to at least give at one more try since I know I can do better than this! Anything motivational or study guide advice to help me get me back to my 650 level would be a great help! I should note by the end of my GMAT adventure (between the
MGMAT course and my further study) I was pretty tired of looking at this stuff since my course began the first week in January and my adventure went on thru near the end of April so that could have been part of my score decline. Thanks again!!!
