Every letter in the alphabet has a number value that is equal to its place in the alphabet; thus, the letter A has a value of 1 and C a value of 3. The number value of a word is obtained by adding up the value of the letters in the word and then multiplying that sum by the length of the word. The word “DFGH” would have a number value of

(A) 22
(B) 44
(C) 66
(D) 100
(E) 108

(4+6+7+8)*4 = 100.

Answer: D.

D+F+G+H = 4+6+7+8=25
25×4=100
