at the point of intersection, both lines share the same coordinates, when they intersect each other

so equating the 2 equation we get

2x + 3 = 4x - 5

which implies

x= 4, and y = 11

At what point on the coordinate plane do the lines y = 2x + 3 and y = 4x − 5 intersect?

A. (2, 8)
B. (2, 11)
C. (4, 8)
D. (4, 11)
E. (8, 8)

When two lines intersect, their x- and y-values are equal. First, let’s set the equations equal to each other, and we have:

2x + 3 = 4x - 5

8 = 2x

4 = x

When x = 4, y is:

2(4) + 3 = 11

So the lines intersect at (4, 11).

Answer: D
