Total = 20
Technical Division= n(T) = 15
Recruitment Division= n(R) = 10

n(T ∪ R) = n(T) +n(R) - n(T ∩ R)

=> 20 = 15 + 10 - n(T ∩ R)

=> n(T ∩ R) = 25 - 20 = 5

Only Technical = 15 - 5 = 10

=> Shares given: 15 each
=> Total Shares given: 15 * 10 = 150

Only Recruitment = 10 - 5 = 5

=> Shares given: 10 each
=> Total Shares given: 5 * 10 = 50

Both division = 5
=> Shares given: 25 each
=> Total Shares given: 5 * 25 = 125

Total shares = 150 + 50 + 125 = 325

Price of 1 share = $10

Total cost = 325 * 10 = 3,250

Though it took me a lot of time, but a simpler solution could be to not solve for #employees in both divisions. If you look at the #shares for employees in both, it is the sum of tech and rec shares. So the "both" need to be double counted.

Tech shares = 15 * 15 = 225
Rec shares = 10*10 = 100
Total shares = 325
Total cost = 325 * 10 = 3250
