if n = 2: 4*2 - 2 =6 (divisible by 6)
if n = 3: 4*3 - 2 =10 (divisible by 5)
if n = 4: 4*4 - 2 = 14 (divisible by 7)
if n = 5: 4*5 - 2 = 18 (divisible by 9)

Hence, the correct answer is D.

For any integer n, Which of the following can never be a divisor of 4n - 2?

A. 5
B. 6
C. 7
D. 8
E. 9

Number properties

We can check answers by plugging in various n's. Logically, however, \(4n - 2\) is never a multiple of 4. This is because we subtracted 2 from a multiple of 4. Since \(4n - 2\) is never a multiple of 4, it cannot be a multiple of 8 either.

Ans: D

2(2n-1)

It will be divisible by all the odd numbers including 6 as 6 is 2*3 in which 2 gets cancelled out and 3 will divide 2n-1.
