A man riding on a bicycle at a speed of 12 km/h crosses a bridge in 7 min. What is the length of the bridge?

This question tests units of measurement. It's 'easy' to write numbers and think it's clear in your head, but it's important to be unmistakeable with units used

Speed·Time=Distance
\(\frac{12km}{1 hour}·7 mins=Distance\) (distance should be in kilometres)
\(\frac{12km}{60 mins}·7 mins=Distance\)
\(\frac{12km·7 mins}{60 mins}=Distance\)
\(\frac{12km·7}{60}=Distance\)
\(1\frac{2}{5}=Distance\)

The question tests on the fundamentals of Rate(Speed/Time)

Solution:

Distance = Speed x Time

Length of the bridge = Distance covered

=> Length of the bridge = 12 * (7/10) km

= 7/5 km

=1 2/5 km (option b)
