Given: Mr. Ram is on tour and he has $360 for his expenses. If he exceeds his tour by 4 days he must cut down daily expenses by $3.
Asked: The number of days of Mr. Ram's tour is

Let the number of days of Mr Ram's tour be x and daily expenses be y.

$360 = xy = (x+4)(y-3)
(x+4)(360/x - 3) = 360
360 + 360*4/x - 3x - 12 = 360
x^2 + 4x - 480 = 0
x^2 + 24x - 20x - 480 = 0
(x-20)(x+24) = 0
x = 20 days

IMO D
How did you take y=360/(x-3) ???

Mr. Ram is on tour and he has $360 for his expenses. If he exceeds his tour by 4 days he must cut down daily expenses by $3. The number of days of Mr. Ram's tour is

A. 28 Days

B. 24 Days

C. 22 Days

D. 20 Days

E. 19 Days

How did you take y=360/(x-3) ???
Bunuel can you please explain??

Assuming the number of days in the tour is x, the usual daily expenses are 360/x. When the tour is extended by 4 days, the daily expenses become 360/(x + 4), which is $3 less than 360/x. Therefore, we have the equation:

360/x = 360/(x + 4) + 3.

Substituting the given options, we find that x = 20.

Answer: D.
