What if x=18 and y=3 then xy is a factor of 12 but x is not a factor of 12.

Can u pl help me

In the above case XY is a multiple of 12 not a factor. A factor means a divisor which doesn't leave remainder. So factors of 12 are 1,2,3,4,6 and 12
