In the figure, what is the value of z?
(1) x = 30
(2) y = 60

The figure in the question stem is redrawn in the image below.
From the revised figure in the image below,
z+y+90=180 meaning z=90-y..........(1)
Also z+x+a=180 meaning z=180-x-a ......(2)
Statement 1 gives the value of x=30.
Clearly this is not sufficient because we need either a and x, or y in order to determine z.
Statement 2 gives the value of y=60. This is sufficient. We are able to determine from (1) above that z=30.
The answer is therefore B.
