IMO A

What is the value of the positive integer x?

(1) The least common multiple of x and 15 is 225.
(A) is sufficient

Prime factors of 225 are 5^2 * 3^2
Hence, LCM(x, 3*5)= 5^2 * 3^2
We can find the value of x.

(2) The least common multiple of x and 20 is 900.
Prime factors of 900 are 5^2 * 3^2 * 2^2
Hence, LCM(x, 2^2*5)= 5^2 * 3^2 * 2^2
Value of x can vary , hence not sufficient
