What is the value of x?
(1) |x+5| = |x+3| --> square both sides: (x+5)^2=(x+3)^2 --> x^2+10 x+25 = x^2+6 x+9 --> 4x=-16 --> x=-4 . Sufficient.
(2) |x+3| = 1 --> x + 3 = 1 or x + 3 = -1. Hence, x = -2 or x = -4. Not sufficient.
