Asked: Is the sum of two positive integers, x + y an odd value?

(1) Both x and y are prime numbers.
If x=2; y=3; x+y = 2+3=5 is an odd integer
But if x=3;y=5; x+y=3+5=8 is an even integer
NOT SUFFICIENT

(2) The successor of neither of the two integers is a prime number.
If x=35; y=37; x+y = 35+37=72 is an even integer
But if x=34;y=37; x+y=34+37=71 is an odd integer
NOT SUFFICIENT

(1) + (2)
(1) Both x and y are prime numbers.
(2) The successor of neither of the two integers is a prime number.
x or y can not be 2 because successor of x is 3 which is a prime number
All other prime numbers are odd
x + y = odd + odd = even is not and odd integer
SUFFICIENT
