Solution:
Pre-Analysis:
- We are asked the value of the three-digit integer \(j\)
Statement 1: The sum of the digits is 3
- Accoridng to this statement, we can narrow down the possible values of \(j\) to be either 102, 111, 120, 201, 210 or 300
- However, we do not get a specific value of \(j\)
- Thus, statement 1 alone is not sufficient and we can eliminate options A and D
Statement 2: \(j < 150\)
- We do not get a specific value of \(j\) from this information
- Thus, statement 2 alone is also not sufficient
Combining:
- From statement 1, we got the possible values of \(j=\) 102, 111, 120, 201, 210 or 300
- From statement 2, we got that \(j < 150\)
- Upon combining, we get the possible values of m]j=[/m] 102, 111, 120
- However, we do not get a specific value of \(j\)
Hence the right answer is Option E
