If 0 < x < 1, is the tenth digit of x nonzero?

(1) 16x is an integer.
(2) 8x is an integer.

Given

x lies between 0 and 1

Question: is the tenth digit of x nonzero

Statement 1

16x is an integer.

\(\frac{1}{16}\) = 0.0625

So \(\frac{1}{16}\) * 16 = 1

Is the tenth digit of x nonzero - Yes !

\(\frac{15}{16}\) = 0.9375

So \(\frac{15}{16}\) * 16 = 15

Is the tenth digit of x nonzero - No !

We can eliminate A and D.

Statement 2

8x is an integer.

We know that 8x is an integer. Let's assume that the tenth's place of x were 0, then to get an integer we would have to multiply the x a number greater than 10. As multiplication by 8 yields and integer, the tenths place is not 0.

Statement II is sufficient.

Option B
