The surface area of cylinder A is how many times the surface area of cylinder B?

(1) The diameter of A is twice the diameter of B.
(2) The height of A is equal to the height of B.

Total Surface Area of a Cylinder = \(2 * \pi * r^2 + 2 * \pi * r * h\)
= \(2 \pi r (r + h)\)

Statement 1 and Statement 2 are individually not sufficient as only one aspect of the dimension is provided.

Combined

Cylinder A :
  • Radius = 2r
  • Height = h

Cylinder B:
  • Radius = r
  • Height = h

\(\frac{TSA_A }{ TSA_B} = \frac{2 \pi *2r (2r + h) }{ 2 \pi r (r + h)}\)

\(\frac{TSA_A }{ TSA_B} = \frac{2(2r + h) }{ (r + h)}\)

As we cannot solve this further. The statements combined are not sufficient.
