The regular price for canned tomato sauce was reduced during a sale. How much money could one have saved by purchasing a dozen cans of tomato sauce at the reduced price rather than at the regular price?

(1) After a 20% reduction in the regular price of canned tomato sauce the price of 10 cans was $6.00
(2) The price of canned tomato sauce was reduced 20%

1. This provides a hypothetical situation, But this is sufficient to calculate the base price 0.8B * 10 = 6, However, it doesn't mentioned that reduction in price was 20% only. NS

2. It explicitly mentioning that reduction is 20% but not providing any further information. NS

But by combining both the statement, the reduced price can be calculated. Ans C

I agree with this, can someone explain how we have assumed the discount to be = 20% based on a hypothetical instance? It doesnt say that this was indeed the case here? Bunuel GMATNinja KarishmaB

Yes, I am not sure if this reduction in statement 1 is the sale they mentioned in the question stem. In fact, after reading statement 2, I was convinced that it isn't so would have chosen (C) here.
