Statement 1
Given it's 35hours, consider scenarios.
1) If she went for grocery shopping after 11AM on Tuesday, then she left on Tuesday (sometime post Monday mid night)
2)If she went for grocery shopping before 11AM on Tuesday, then she left on Monday (sometime before Monday mid night)
Insufficent

Statement 2
72 hours exactly after Friday, makes it +3days, which is Monday

This is an interesting question, On what day of the week did Mila go to Amsterdam?

Statement 1:

(1) She went exactly 35 hours before doing the groceries on Tuesday.

35 hours means 1 day and additional 11 hours.

let’s take two cases:

A) where Mila went to groceries on Tuesday night 11 pm. So, 35 hrs before leads to Monday 12 Noon.

B) where Mila went to groceries on Tuesday morning 5 am. So, 35 hrs before leads to Saturday evening 6 pm.

We cannot arrive to anything conclusive. NOT SUFFICIENT.

Statement 2:

(2) She went exactly 72 hours after having an appointment with the hairdresser on Friday.

72 hrs means exactly 3 days. Irrespective of Friday morning or evening , 72 hrs after this will land in Monday (morning /evening).

We can conclusively say that he went to Amsterdam on Monday.

Hence, SUFFICIENT.

On what day of the week did Mila go to Amsterdam?

(1) She went exactly 35 hours before doing the groceries on Tuesday.
35 hours= 1 day + 11 hrs.
We don't know whether Mila went to groceries in the morning or in the evening. So, the day can be either Sunday or Monday.
Insufficient

(2) She went exactly 72 hours after having an appointment with the hairdresser on Friday.
72 hrs= 3 days
3 days after Friday is Monday (the time doesn't matter whether it's evening or morning as after 3 days will be Monday)
Sufficient

Statement 1: She went exactly 35 hours before doing the groceries on Tuesday.
- 35 hours before Tuesday can give different results depending on when groceries were done:
- If groceries were at 9 AM on Tuesday, it’s Sunday at 10 PM.
- If groceries were at 6 PM on Tuesday, it’s Sunday at 7 AM.
- We can't be sure which day it is.
- Not sufficient❌.

Statement 2: She went exactly 72 hours after having an appointment with the hairdresser on Friday.
- 72 hours after Friday is always Monday.
- Sufficient✅.

Answer: B (Statement 2 alone is sufficient).
