Gentle note to all experts and tutors: Please refrain from replying to this question until the Official Answer (OA) is revealed. Let students attempt to solve it first. You are all welcome to contribute posts after the OA is posted. Thank you all for your cooperation!- Comedy Movie = C
- Action Movie = A
- Both = B
Therefore C + A + B = 160
Statement 1(1) Marcus owns 80 comedies.
C + B = 80
No information on A. Hence, the statement alone is not sufficient. Eliminate A and D.
Statement 2 (2) Marcus owns 120 action movies.
A + B = 120
No information on C. Hence, the statement alone is not sufficient. Eliminate B.
CombinedA + 2B + C = 200
B = 40 , A = 80 and C = 40
Case 1: Let's assume Marcus watch 10 comedy and action movies, and 62 only action movies.
Ratio = 72 / 160 = 9/20
Case 2: Let's assume Marcus watch 10 only comedy , and 72 only action movies.
Ration = 82 / 160 = 41/80
As we are getting two different answers, the statements combined is also not sufficient.
