Distance between city A and city B = 300 miles.

Average speed = Total distance / Total time taken.

Statement 1:

(1) The automobile averages 50 miles per hour for the first three hours.

Time = 3 hrs.
Average speed = 50 mph.

Distance = 50* 3 = 150 miles.

Not Sufficient

Statement 2:

(2) The automobile averages 45 miles per hour for the last three hours.

Time = 3 hrs.
Average speed = 45 mph.

Distance = 45* 3 = 135 miles.

Not Sufficient

Combining Statement 1 and Statement 2,

We don’t have no data about 15 miles.

Hence, Not sufficient.

Option E

Distance = 300
to get average speed we need total time as well

Statement 1
The automobile averages 50 miles per hour for the first three hours.
Distance covered = 50*3 = 150
We don't know the time taken to cover the next 150 miles
Insufficient

Statement 2
The automobile averages 45 miles per hour for the last three hours
Distance covered = 45*3 = 135
We don't know the time taken to cover the first 165 miles
Insufficient

even when we combine we don remaining 15 miles so we cannot get anything

SO option E is correct
