Flat charge per can = 50 cents.
Without discount : 10 cans at 50 cents = 500 cents.
If last two cans are provided discount, what’s the discounted price ?
Statement 1:
(1) The customer paid four dollars and twenty cents total for the ten cans.
8 cans * 50 = 400 cents.
2 cans * d = ——- cents
10 cans * 42 = 420 cents.
so, 2 cans * d = 20 cents. Hence, d = 10 cents per can.
Hence, Sufficient
Statement 2:
(2) The customer bought the ten cans for an average price of 42 cents per can.
This is a reworded version of statement 1. Using the value, we can find the discounted price.
Hence, Sufficient
