I would greatly appreciate any feedback or advice you may have for me!
1)GMAT: 600 (will be retaking as it was much lower than my practice tests) IR-5, AWA-6, Q-38, V-34
2) Undergrad B.A. History 3.1 GPA (but it's upward trending, 3.7 on my thesis, 3.4 Senior Year Average) from a top ten liberal arts college
3) Extracurricular: College - involved with leadership programs during orientation 2 years, student council secretary 1 term, study abroad board 1 year, club soccer
Real Life - volunteer sporadically (bad, I know), tennis, running club
4) Work: One year at a start-up that failed first year out of college, worked at my college for a year in housing/dean's office, did some soul searching and decided I wanted to join the family business and have spent the last three years at family real estate development and management company (~50 employees, but we're competitive in our market) working my way up each year.
5) Goals Post-MBA: Continue expanding our growing family business, ideally to the commercial sector as well, and eventually become its president. As a history major I do not have any accounting/strategy/management tools besides those I've picked up over the last three years. An MBA will allow me to incorporate new ideas and knowledge to the company's growth.
6) 26, White, Female
I am planning to apply this fall to CMU's Tepper School of Business and University of Pittburgh's Katz School of Business (my family business is in Pittsburgh so I want to attend business school locally so I can stay involved and network with other future Pittsburgh business leaders).
I am an unusual candidate and worried because of this I don't have a fighting chance. I know I can get at least a 650 on the GMAT. But, even with that, does my lack of Quant experience seal my fate (Tepper is my #1).
I also am torn between part time and full time -- in your experience would someone with my profile have a better shot at part time?
Again, I greatly appreciate your time and any insight you can provide!
