note: The healthcare company I currently work at is owned by the Private Equity firm I started at. As time went on, my role with the firm mostly transitioned to providing analytical needs for this specific portfolio company, and in February I officially became the Director of Analytics, with 1 person working under me. My paychecks are still being paid by the Private Equity firm.
Extra-Curriculars:
Started and ran a dropshipping e-commerce business in college for parts of 3 years. For the 1 full year it ran, I did over $800k in sales (with a very low-profit margin). Managed 3 Virtual Assistants living in the Philippines.
Was a member of the entrepreneur club in college
Have done a bit of volunteer work for a nonprofit that helps special needs children
Currently run 2 websites: a Personal Finance website and a gift idea website. Have only had limited success so far
Am a Real Estate investor. I currently own 1 rental property and am closing on another one in a few weeks.
Post-MBA goals: I've dipped my foot into a few different industries, and I'm hoping getting an MBA can help me get focused and choose a single path. I lean towards wanting to run a business in the long run, and I think the networking and leadership knowledge I can gain from an MBA would help. Directly after the MBA, in a perfect world, I'd like to try and get a job in a field such as Analytics or Operations with a prestigious company such as Mckinsey, Google, etc. Due to my nonprestigious undergrad program, I don't really have a shot with companies like that at the moment, but I think my academic background and strong standardized test taking skills mean that a path to a good business school that leads to a job at an exclusive company is a possibility.
Target schools:
I just started my MBA journey, and likely won't apply until 2022. I'm therefore still in the process of determining what level program I'd have a chance at getting accepted into. In a perfect world, I get into a top program such as Harvard or Wharton, but I'm obviously open to more realistic suggestions on where I should be applying.
I'm also a bit hesitant about the large price tags at some of these programs. I can afford to pay for a program that's worth it, but taking a break from the workforce AND getting a $200k MBA would obviously hurt my finances quite a bit. So, I'd love to also hear about some programs that are cheaper, or that have scholarship options available.
Let me know what you think!
