I'd need to know more about your background (including GMAT/GRE score and any extracurricular involvement) to assess your profile, but I don't see why you wouldn't be a candidate for an MBA program based on your career path so far, in which it sounds like you've made meaningful impact. At 31, though, you are above the average age of full-time MBA candidates, so you'll want to make it clear why NOW is the right time for an MBA, your specific short and long-term post-MBA goals, and what drives you towards those goals based on your experience and observations to date. I'm not sure I understand your question about govt consultancy, but you wouldn't necessarily be placed in a consulting 'bucket' by the AdComs that review your application - your candidacy will be evaluated holistically. Indian male , age -31 years. B. tech with a gpa of 7.6 and M.sc in development practice from an esteemed institution from India.
Work profile :- One year in private sector in networking firm. Spent 3 years in the most coveted fellowship of ministry of rural developemt. Worked as a consultant in one of the most backward districts in the most backward state of India. Not only got involved in consultancy but also got involved in execution of projects. Completed various projects in the district with some of the sanitation projects getting recognition at the national level and appreciated. Worked for a non profit firm for two years. Presently for the last two years working as a civil servant in Taxation matters for the last two years.
Now planning to shift to corporate sector. Two questions whether my academic and professional experience good enough to give a shot ? Second does govt consultancy comes under general consulting course of the MBA program done by B schools of USA ?
