Hi
Mathiasp123, thanks for writing in. I do think it would be helpful to retake your GMAT to see if you can improve it. While your score is within range, it’s low for candidates like you… and since they can’t admit everyone, a higher GMAT can help. What counts even more, however, are leadership and impact. It can be tough to demonstrate that with less FT work experience. As you may have seen in the profile pages of your target schools, the average work experience at matriculation (post undergrad, internships don’t usually count though that 35 hour weekly one may help) is closer to 5 years than 2, so hopefully you can show great leadership on the job and strong accomplishments. It’s not uncommon for McKinsey BAs from Europe to apply with less experience, but the top programs can’t take all of them so your relative strength in that pool can matter. I’d say your best bets right now beyond a score improvement are to deliver impact on the job to boost your resume and recommendations and to execute well on your applications. You’ve picked some very tough schools with low admit rates, so you may want to add a few other options to improve your chances of success. Where does your office typically send candidates like you? That will sometimes help you predict your chances assuming their profiles resemble yours. Best of luck!
