Let's just assume that one dice is blank and settle on 1/12 for two others?

Not sure if you had this in mind while giving the solution, but here it goes.

the reason why your soln worked is because then P(3) = P(18) , P(4) = P(17) etc ( where P(n) is the probability of getting a total of n)

hence the P(n<=10) = P(n > 10).

for me it's clear

3 is minimum possibility
18 is the maximum one
total number of values : 16 (18-3+1)
so answer should be 8/16 -> 1/2
