Hallo M8,
When no quitters each person should donate -b/x dollars, 12 qiutters b/(x-12). The remaining people should donate b/(x-12)-(b/x) more or 12b/[x*(x-12)]

I am getting yet another ans

Let y be the additional amt people have to donate.

We know that the total amt should be the same.

ie. xb = (x-12)(b+y)
xb = xb +xy -12b -12y
xy - 12y =12b
y(x-12) = 12b


y = 12b/(x-12)

Oh yes, I got my mistake !!!
I misinterpreted the question !!
I thought x people each paid $b to raise a total of xb !

:( :(

Anyway, now that I understood..
For x people, amt = $b
For 1 person amt = b/x

For x-12 people, amt per person = b/(x-12)

Difference = b/(x-12) - b/x = 12b/[x(x-12)]
