Hi, I took the second GMATPrep test and cannot figure out the correct answer to question #33. I think that the answer should be "BOTH statements TOGETHER are sufficient, but NEITHER statement ALONE is sufficient." However, according to the test, the correct answer is "Statement (2) ALONE is sufficient, but statement (1) alone is not sufficient."
Can someone please explain this to me? I see the xy/100 term so perhaps there is a way to factor the second equation, but I can't figure it out.
