It may be easier to assume numbers.

Assume 20 people subscribe to Newspaper A (20 is LCM of 4 and 5)

Of these 20/5 = 4 people subscribe to Newspaper B.

We know that these 4 people represent 1/4 of the people who subscribe to Newspaper B, so total of 4/(1/4) = 16 people subscribe to Newspaper B.

Total number of people = (Those who subscribe to A )+ (Those who subscribe to B) - (Those who subscribe to both) = 20 + 16 - 4 = 32

Ratio needed = 16/32 = 1/2

Does this help? Sometimes it may be easier to plug in numbers, since when you talk of ratios, they must be true for any +ve integer.

I Were suspecting some set matters and i first try a venn diagram I could not see what was common to both i picked A=40 AND B= 2O
So if I understand well what A and B have in common
is 1/5 of A and 1/4of B
