sqrt5+third root of 5+forth root of 5

the value of the above expression falls in which of the following ranges..??
1. 0 to 3
2. 3 to 6

how do we simplify such expressions in general..


Hi it's all ways better to remember the square roots of first 10 integers..... the above can be solved in this manner as well...

sq r (5) + c r (5) + frth r (5) = sq r (5) {1 + sq r (5) + c r (5) }
= 1.smthn ( 1 + 1.smthn + somevalue)
= 1.smthn (2 + point smthn ) which is always greater than 3
Good approach but the last expression, in bold, is not always true.
2,1*1,2???

HI like I said before its always gud to have a fair idea of sq root of top 10 nums..

but for this question I guess we can get the answer!!!

Yes. Sometimes memorizing some numbers work. But trying to solve the problem with the memory, sometimes will not work. Try some different approaches.


Note: Know the squares and third powers. It is very useful.
