s1) x/y den=y ; 1/3 den=3

lcm of y and 3 is 6 ----> y can be 2 or 6 as bth will give lcm as 6

hence no single value and therefore insuff

s2) y can be anything
hence insuff

s1)+s2)...same no result

statement 1 is not sufficient because y can be 2 or 6.

statement 2 is not sufficient because it doesn't tell us anything about y, y can be any number.

both statement together are not sufficient because y can still be 2 or 6 after applying the conditions from both statements.
