Ah, I see - sorry, I was in "Sentence Correction" mode browsing the SC forum, so I didn't even think of it the other way.

You're absolutely fine using "on one hand...on the other hand". Like I said, if I had to pick between two on the test I'd go with your way, so you're definitely not incorrect in typing that as part of your essays!
