My GMAT is 2.5 weeks away and I can not seem to get probability at all. I really have no clue beyond simple counting principle problems. I am at about 46-47 in Quant at the moment. I get 25-27 right on the GMAT Challenges and miss the 2-3 probability problems everytime. I understand the concepts behind Perms and Combs, but just have no idea when to use them and how to set up the equations to solve for the probability. I found this resource on GMAT Club,
https://gmatclub.com/forum/7-t56486 but still don't get it. Anyone else have a similar issue and then have an AHA! moment? Please help.
I'll suggest a strategy for you. Skip them.
In the meantime, sharpen all other aspects of quant mainly divisibility, exponents and overlapping sets.
Yes, I say skip them, because you will spend your study time better by sharpening the skills you already have. AT MOST, you will see 3 prob/combo questions, of which at least one will be asininely (<-- is that a word?) simple.
I was pretty good w/perm&combo. I got a 50Q, ask me how many prob questions I saw. ZERO.
You'll see that many people, especially the ones who score 50/51Q skip a question or two or three. I can pretty much guarantee that no one has ever gotten all the questions right. It simply does not happen. So don't be afraid to skip/guess a question. You can use that alloted 2 minutes, on a question you're certain to get right.
Good luck.
