Re: Yale Class of 2016 Calling all applicants! [#permalink]
To all those that applied in R1 - Good luck! I hope all goes well.

Starting my application now and have a long road ahead!

Question/word of warning to fellow applicants: Some of the short answer questions within the application (specifically in this case, the career interests prompt) have a maximum word restriction. I am noticing that these are not accurate. I prefer to type my responses in a word document and then copy them over, but they seem to get cut-off at a character limit instead. This is frustrating as I am spending quite a bit of time trying to make my responses as strong as possible before copying them over. Not sure what my question is as I don't think anything can be done, but I wish they didn't have the word limit if it wasn't going to be accurate!

Congrats. Did your status ever change from Submitted to anything else on the website (before the invite)?

Got my interview invite too!! :-D I really didn't realize how stressed out I was about this until I saw that message in my inbox and all the tension flowed out of me. Maybe it's similar to last year when they released waves of invites on Fridays.

Looks like they are offering off-campus interviews with adcom members in select cities. I'll be trying to schedule through that route...

Quick question - You said 'people who interviewed last year, but got in this year without interview'
You mean this year already? Has the admissions team already offered admissions to such applicants?
I thought all decisions (interview or no interview) will happen on the decision date.

Sorry - I stated that really poorly. A couple of people who applied in the 2011-12 cycle were interviewed and then rejected. They reapplied in the 12-13 cycle, did not receive invites, but got accepted and are now attending SOM. Basically, they keep your interview on file for a year (maybe two?).

@mbamyway and @tinkered,

Would you guys mind sharing a bit on what cities are available for selection at the moment? Just wanna get a sense of how many regions the waves of invites are covering each time.

Thanks a lot!

Looking forward to seeing you all on-campus in the next few weeks!

For the rest of you waiting for the email, keep calm. Last year, lots of invites had not been sent yet. This seemed to be more or less the first "wave". Hopefully adcom follows suit this year, too.

Aerien or Machichi,

I am applying to programs for Round 2 and Yale is at the top of my list. I've attended a number of online chats and spoken with a couple of alumni. I would like to visit the campus; however, it would be quite difficult to do so prior to the application deadline. From your experience is it necessary to visit before you apply or is it fine to do so if / when one gets an interview?

Cheers!

Hey all - haven't been on here in a while. Just wanted to reiterate Aerien's point, plenty of interview invites to come in the next few weeks. I applied 1st round last year and wasn't invited to interview until November 1st, along with many others. Ended up being WL'd and then dinged later unfortunately but reapplying this year. Also, for those repplying, I've spoken to a few adcom members this year, including Bruce, who have confirmed that if you're a reapplicant who was invited to interview in the last 2 years, you will NOT be interviewed again, they will simply use last year's interview for your admissions file.

In case it's useful for anyone, it looks like admissions reps will be in Los Angeles to conduct in-person interviews during the third full week of November.

I received the same feedback after speaking to the Adcom Team.
