MBAs Rate Their Ideal Jobs

In a survey conducted by Universum, 5,748 business students from 79 top U.S. business schools chose from a list of over 175 companies the five companies they would most like to work for, Poets & Quants reports.

While both Amazon.com and Bain & Co. moved up two spots this year,—Amazon to sixth and Bain to fourth—Goldman Sachs dropped three spots this year to seventh. The firm, “plagued by an endless parade of bad news in recent years,” fell to its lowest place on the list in many years.

The top three remained the same from last year, with Google topping the list for the sixth year in a row. McKinsey & Co. and Apple held on to their second and third spots.

Interestingly, there was a “significant divergence of opinion based on the gender of MBA students,” with women rating consumer goods companies much higher than men. The males surveyed were more attracted to the big financial companies.
