A, B, D for question 1,2,3 respective
In Q1 Need past perfect tense and who, so A
in Q2 D and E are out because of known to be
A and C are not clear to use vice verse. So B remains and most clear
In Q3
Propose that sth be done, so A, C, E are out
In B which wrongly refer to school.
D stands out which is just fine....

Q1: Once the audience had filed out, Serge began to wonder who, if anyone, had listened to his long speech.
A. began to wonder who, if anyone, had listened to his long speech.
B. began wondering whom, if anyone, had listened to his long speech.
C. began wondering whom, if anyone, listens to his long speech.
D. began to wonder who, if anyone, was listening to his long speech.
E. began wondering who, if anyone, was listening to his long speech.

Need infinitive after began, so B, C and E are out.
b/w A and D was listening is better as requires present continuous (Some doubts though)
D for me

Q2 : A hypothesis known as Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor, therefore the closest living relative of the whale is the hippopotamus and vice versa.

A. A hypothesis known as Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor, therefore the closest living relative of the whale is the hippopotamus and vice versa.
B. A hypothesis known as Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor; therefore the closest living relative of the whale is the hippopotamus and the closest living relative of the hippopotamus is the whale.
C. A hypothesis known as Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor; therefore, they are each other’s closest living relatives.
D. A hypothesis known to be Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor; therefore the closest living relative of the whale is the hippopotamus and vice versa.
E. A hypothesis known to be Cetartiodactyla theorizes that whales and hippopotamuses evolved from a common ancestor; therefore they are each other’s closest living relatives.

Known as is better. ';' is justified in C and 'they' is unambiguous. Hence, better than B.

Q3: The school board proposed that funding for the school's development, which could be open to the public early next year, is obtained through a tax increase.

A. that funding for the school's development, which could be open to the public early next year, is
B. that funding for the development of the school, which could be open to the public by early next year, be
C. funding for the development of the school, perhaps open to the public early next year, to be
D. funds for the school's development, perhaps open to the public early next year, be
E. development funding for the school, which could be open to the public early next year, is to be

subjunctive mood is required. 'proposed that'
be obtained is correct in B.
