+1 for D.

(A) If anyone at InterCom Financial Advisers would have anticipated

(B) Had anyone at InterCom Financial Advisers anticipated

(C) If any people at InterCom Financial Advisers would have anticipated

(D) If any people at InterCom Financial Advisers had anticipated --> Correct, rectifies S-V error 'people - they', and uses correct tense

(E) If anybody at InterCom Financial Advisers anticipated

Hence, D.

Answer can not be B because the later part of the sentence(after the comma) has the subject as 'they' and 'anyone' in B is singular.

Correct me if I am wrong.

D is my answer as it uses correct verb form for conditional clause.

A, B, and E can be eliminated as anyone/anybody does not agree with ‘they’.
D uses the correct tense form with the use of ‘had’.
D is the best choice.

(A) If anyone at InterCom Financial Advisers would have anticipated

The outcome present in the non-underlined portion uses "would have" + verb. So the verb tense for IF clause should be past perfect INCORRECT

(B) Had anyone at InterCom Financial Advisers anticipated

Use of "had" just by itself without a verb indicates simple past tense. Simple past tense in conditional clause is INCORRECT for the same reason specified in option A

(C) If any people at InterCom Financial Advisers would have anticipated

Same error as in option A INCORRECT

(D) If any people at InterCom Financial Advisers had anticipated

Uses the correct past perfect verb tense in the IF clause.

(E) If anybody at InterCom Financial Advisers anticipated

Use of simple past in IF clause is wrong for the same reason as in other options. INCORRECT

Hence option D

One thing to add for B,
the use of "had ... anticipated" is not the problem, as it is equivalent to "if ... had anticipated", the problem is the subject "anyone", if it is replaced with "any people", then B should be correct.
