Congrats bro... I'm in a similar boat.. Took the GMAT last Sept. and got a 580... Promised myself I would take 3 months to study and redo it... Unfortunately due to work and other circumstances I have not been able to study at all.. But your post is very inspiring to see that there is a healthy jump to be made by dedicated independent study from people who don't score 7xx+ right off the bat..

Congrats again mate,

AK

Ya this doesnt make any sense. I got a Q44 and V 35 with the same overall score.

Congrats anyway.

I think in the middle range, especially on the math side, it takes more than a few points to alter the final score because there are so many math scores in that range. The hump of the bell. Someone with stats skills can elaborate.

I have seen people with the exact same quant-verbal breakdown as me have a score 10 points higher than my total score. Its a bummer but the scoring is more complicated than the raw data seems to suggest.

I am kinda in the same boat. My score went from a 530 to a 620 (Q40 V35) within a couple of months.
