A certain bakery made 3 shipments of 100 doughnuts each. If 17 percent of the first shipment and 40 percent of the second shipment of jelly doughnuts and 30 percent of all three shipments combined consisted of jelly doughnuts, then what percent of the third shipment consisted of jelly doughnuts?

a) 21%

b) 27%

c) 30%

d) 33%

e) 41%

This is a simple Percentage problem! However, the wordings of the question is a bit confusing!

Its given in the question that the bakery made 3 shipments of 100 doughnuts each. Which means \(Total Doughnuts = 300\)

The question says

30% of

all three shipments are

jelly doughnuts. This translates to \(Total Jelly Doughnuts = \frac{30}{100}*300 = 100\)

The question also says

17% of the

first shipment and

40% of the

second shipment were

Jelly Doughnuts.

Total Jelly Doughnuts represents

100%, of this

17% and 40 % were

first and second shipments respectively. So \(Third Shipment = 100-17-40=33 percent\)

Though its not required, from the previous calculations, we could also say that there were 33 Jelly Doughnuts in the third shipment!

Answer is D!**********Please give me Kudos if you think this solution was helpful!!**********
