Profit of corn =x
profit of wheat = x/3
profit of truffle = y
profit of corn of truffle ; 5*y/4 = x
so
fraction of the profit from a bushel of wheat is the profit from a bushel of truffles
x/3/y = 5*y/12 *y = 5/12
IMO A

If a bushel of truffles generates a profit of T = $60, then a bushel of corn would generate a profit of C =$75, and a bushel of wheat a profit of W = \$25.

Thus, T/W = 60/25 = 12/5.

W= 1/3C
C= 5/4T

W= 5/12T

Now, fraction of the profit from a bushel of wheat is the profit from a bushel of truffles.

I believe OA is wrong and it happens so because the words 'what fraction of the profit from a bushel of wheat is the profit from a bushel of truffles?' is being read wrongly.

A certain bushel of wheat generates one-third the profit of a bushel of corn. -- Let the profit from corn be x, so profit from wheat = $$\frac{x}{3}.$$
If a bushel of corn generates five-fourths the profit of a bushel of truffles, -- Now profit from corn is x, so profit from truffles will be (4x/5).
what fraction of the profit from a bushel of wheat is the profit from a bushel of truffles? OR
Profit from truffles is A of profit from wheat ------- $$\frac{4x}{5}=A*\frac{x}{3}.....A=\frac{12x}{5x}=\frac{12}{5}$$

So answer is E and NOT A...

I think you it's a simple question that confuses people with the Profit
1/3 * wheat = corn
5/4 * corn = Truffs

So wheat to corn is 1/3*5/4 or 5/12

1/3x = y
5/4y = z
what is z in terms of x
5/4*(1/3x) = z or 5/12
