given:
$$\frac{a}{100}*b=c$$
$$\frac{c}{100}*d=e$$
substitue c in 2nd equation with LHS of the first
$$\frac{a*b}{100}*\frac{d}{100}=e$$
$$\frac{abd}{100}=100e$$
$$a=\frac{100e*100}{bd}$$
convert this into a percent
$$\frac{1000000}{bd} %$$ of e.

E: $$\frac{1000000}{bd}$$

Plug in some values ,

Let a = 10 b = 50 So, c = 5

So, c = 5 ; d = 60 So, e = 3

a as % of e is 10/3*100 => 1000/3

Now, check the options -

In (E) we have -

$$\frac{1000000}{bd}$$

= 1000000/50*60

= 1000000/3000

= 1000/3

So, Correct answer must be (E)

Hi,

We can solve it in three ways

Choices
We have three % involved and rest all are constants
So our answer should have 3 %s together that is 100*100*100
Or one % getting cancelled out with other so 100*100/100=100
So answer should have either 2 0s or 6 0s..
Only E has 6 0s..

Substitution
As shown above too by abhisheik too..
You can always choose easy numbers..
a percent of b is c ... take a as 10, b as 100 so C is 10
and c percent of d is e,.....C is 10 let d be 100 so E is 10
then a is what percent of e?that is 10 is what % of 10.. ofcourse 100%..

If you look at choices, only E 1000000/bd=1000000/100*100=100

Proper method..
a percent of b is c , so a*b/100=C..a=100c/b
and c percent of d is e, ..so c*d/100=E
Then a is what percent of e... a/E*100=( 100c/b)/(CD/100) * 100= 100c*100*100/BCD=1000000/bd

C: 10000 bd

D: $$\frac{bd}{1000}$$

E: $$\frac{1000000}{bd}$$

The easiest way to solve this is to give values to a,b,c,d, and e.

Let say, if a=10 percent of b=100 is c=10 and c=10 percent of d=100 is e=10
We have been asked to find how much percent of e is a. Here a=e=10.

So, therefore, the answer should be 100%(since a is 100% of e)

A: $$\frac{bd}{1000} = \frac{100*100}{1000} = 10$$
B: $$\frac{10000}{bd} = \frac{10000}{100*100} = 1$$
C: 10000 bd = 10000*100*100
D: $$\frac{bd}{1000} = \frac{100*100}{1000} = 10$$
E: $$\frac{1000000}{bd} = \frac{1000000}{100*100} = 100$$

Only Option E($$\frac{1000000}{bd}$$) matches and is our answer
