My Kellogg interview went something like this:
My interviewer was a somewhat recent Kellogg alum who was working for one of the top consulting firms. Since he was traveling full time and I was also traveling on and off, I had to take a day off to get the interview done. We decided to meet at a restaraunt convenient to both of us.
We hit it off right away when I first called him because both of us were huge College Football fans and we supported teams in the same conference. That helped break the ice in the interview as well. It also helped that I knew one of his classmates! The guy had read my Resume in great detail and had already underlined several areas. He first asked me to walk him through my professional experiences. I used this as a cue to talk about my career advance, goals and Why Kellogg all at once. This was my 10 minute speech that I had prepared well for and it floored him. He told me he was really impressed by my leadership and team experiences. For each level of my career, I had one anecdote, which he felt was a unique way of explaining a career path. He then asked me about what my leadership style was and how I developed it. Again, I gave a couple of anecdotes.
At this point (20 minutes), he told me that he felt I was one of the strongest candidates he had seen and said that he really had nothing more to say. He asked me if there was anything that I could tell him that is not in my application so that he can make a stronger pitch for me. I came up with a community service experience that I could not fit in my app. We then spent 15 minutes chatting on life in Evanston and social activities, watching football/baseball etc. Then we ended the interview.
