has been significant shows present perfect. IMO, we do not need present perfect here.

A & B are out

Invention of computer is single item and were is clearly wrong. D is out

Between C & E, I will pick E because we are in 21st century and invention of computer happened in the 20th century.

What is the OA?

Is there any other reason about choosing C instead of E? Just as we are in 21th century?

Although the invention of the printing press led to a significant reconceptualization of textual production in the fifteenth century, what has been equally significant in the twentieth century is the invention of the computer.

A) ....
B) equally significant in the twentieth centurty has been
C) no less significant in the twentieth centruty is
D) what was equally significant in the twentieth century were
E) no less significant in the twentieth century was

One minute answer : The sentence is talking about two occurrences in the 20th century. We should use the same verb to describe those. E wins.
