If Amiel lost 1/2 pound every week for 30 weeks, he would have lost 15 pounds in all.

If his original weight was 240 pounds, 15 pounds will be \(\frac{15}{240}*100 = 6.25\)%

Therefore, Amiel lost 6.25%(Option C) of his original weight during this period

P.S Since the numbers are far apart, we need to find an approximate answer.
24 is 10% and 12 is 5%. 15 must be within this range. Only Option C(6.25) falls in that range!
