This is a very simple question on ratio concepts. Ideally, this shouldn’t take you more than 30 seconds to solve, if you know your ratio concepts well.
The distance between A and D = 4 – (-5) = 9 units. This distance has been divided into three parts in the ratio of 1:2:3 i.e. AC:CD:DB = 1:2:3.
Let AC = k, CD = 2k and DB = 3k. Then, k + 2k + 3k = 9, which gives us k = 1.5 on solving.
Therefore, AC = 1.5 units, CD = 3 units and DB = 4.5 units.
So, C = -5 + 1.5 = -3.5 and D = -5 + 4.5 = -0.5.
The correct answer option is B.
