At a certain company, the ratio of male to female employees is 3 to 4. If there are 5 more female employees than male employees, how many male employees does the company have?

(A) 12
(B) 15
(C) 18
(D) 21
(E) 24

We can create the equation:

3x + 5 = 4x

5 = x

So there are 3 * 5 = 15 male employees in the company.

Given: At a certain company, the ratio of male to female employees is 3 to 4.
Asked: If there are 5 more female employees than male employees, how many male employees does the company have?

Let the male employees be 3k and female employees be 4k
4k - 3k = 5
k = 5

Males employees = 3k = 3*5 = 15
