There are a total of 200 students.
Let the two categories be Loans and Scholarships.
Where Set 2 = a, common = b , set 1 = c and n be none of those things included in a,b,c. T be the total.
Total Students = T = 200
Set 2 include loans only , set 1 includes scholarships only.
given : 30% *(200) = 60 = Set 2 = Only Loans.
40%*(200) = 80 = Set 1 = Only Scholarships.
we need to find : n
Statement 1:
(1) The same percentage of people who received neither scholarships nor loans received both scholarships and loans.
200 = a+b+c+n
200 = 60+ 80 + b+n
b+n = 60
given b=n, this implies b=n=30
Hence, Sufficient
Statement 2:
(2) The university spent twice as much money on loans as on scholarships
The money spent is not related here.
Hence, Insufficient
