check out "establishing a core competency" before registering for anything. i was able to place out of a couple and judging by your experience you should too.

yeah i saw that, as an econ undergrad, i should be able to place out of COR1-GB.1303 Firms & Markets and COR1-GB.2303 The Global Economy. but by doing so, NYU doesn't grant me any credits toward the 60 required to graduate. i don't see the harm in taking these as a refresher as it's been awhile since i've been in school plus i'm a lil rusty in theory-based economics

did you take any proficiency exams to place out of any?

i will be taking the accounting exam.

similar to you i have mixed feelings about having a refresher. i have been heavily encouraged by some to place out of any courses possible - but in no way feel dogmatically about this.

anyway - feel free to take this to email, happy to connect and know someone going in: jason.mellone@gmail.com

I got an admit letter from NYU Stern PT for Spring (March end). I got into their Accelerated 2 year MBA program. However, I applied to most of my FT schools in R2 and I haven't even applied to Haas PT, Booth PT, Kellogg PT or UCLA PT yet and I would like to postpone my decision by a few months. The problem is I have to accept the offer within 1 more day or the offer expires. Besides, I am not sure about the employment opportunities for career switchers (from IT to Consulting) in NYU. There seems to very little information available. How did you non-finance guys finalize your decision that NYU is your best school.

I am mainly worried about the lack of on-campus recruiting opportunities. Also, since I would like to someday work in the strategy division of a high tech company, how valuable is the NYU MBA in the technology space?

I applied to Stern for Fall 2016 and I am in the same boat as you were. I am in the tech space as well and unsure about whether NYU is the best option for me. I'm a non-finance guy as well. Let me know your thoughts and where you landed with your decision.
