No, I'm currently in the Midwest. Most of the companies I want to work for are located in NY which is a big reason I want to attend Stern.

Make sure you sign up for Stern Minority Weekend, I went last year. It was ok, but its hard to live in NYC and do the school thing. There is just so much going on. I need to get away so I can focus, I am ready for a change while I am in school, but plan to return back to NYC.

Have any one taken their GMAT test yet?

I got an email inivte last week. How was the event overall? Did you find it very informative? What type of events were there? Between airfare and hotel I've spent $1200 on this event already, not including incidentals once I get there(cab, food, etc.). I'm hope it will be worth it. Especially since I just flew out there in late July to visit the school and spent about the same amount of money. And I will be taking the GMAT on the 29th.

Wow! I thought it was ok. But again, dont take it from me. I was there but was focusing on my plans outside of NYU because I live in NYC. So it was hard for me to enjoy it. I would suggest you check out this link: https://finance.groups.yahoo.com/group/NycCOFE/ and ask members there. I know there were about 4-5 people in the group that I met there last year. They can give you a better answer. But you have to apply and get accepted to the weekend.

Greetings,

I was recently just accepted into one of the consortium schools but I applied directly through the school. They suggested that I submit a consortium application to try to get a fellowship. My two options are either apply through the school preffered consortium application which only allows me to apply to the school that I have been accepted to or submit the consortium application with the school that I have been accepted plus any additional schools that I want to apply to. If I go with the ladder approach am I risking losing my acceptance into this school or do you think that it wouldn't matter and their admission decision will hold even if I apply to other programs through the consortium.

Thanks.

Two things:

1. There's a separate Consortium thread where you might get more people's input to respond: calling-all-fall-2012-consortium-applicants-116034.html

2. They're not going to rescind your offer. However, if they're interested in giving you the fellowship and you decide to apply to other schools, it may impact whether they want to give you a fellowship or whether they'll have the chance to depending on how your rank the schools you apply to.

Feel free to post in this year's Consortium thread or PM me for more questions you may have. Congrats on the acceptance!
